Waterjet and Abrasive Cutting Services

Abrasive waterjet cutting is a method of cutting shapes and patterns from virtually any type of material using high pressure water and abrasive materials such as crushed garnet.

Waterjet cutting capabilities offer a flexible and accurate method of cutting complex or difficult parts that may not be suitable for die cutting or stamping and where material integrity must remain intact. Some of the benefits of waterjet / abrasive cutting include:

Minimizes tooling costs
Can produce small volume and one-time runs without the added cost of tooling.

At Freuhauf Manufacturing, our waterjet cutting services set the industry standard for quality and customer service. With our technical capabilities in the area of abrasive waterjet machining, we produce precision parts that conform to challenging design and quality criteria. We leverage high-powered waterjet cutters to create complex 2D forms and difficult geometries that would be problematic to die cut or to stamp. As a versatile manufacturing company, we use waterjet cutting to fulfill orders for prototypes and one-of-a-kind items as well as for high volume production.

Waterjet cutting offers some significant advantages over other production methods. It is a no-heat process, so the substrate retains its integrity, and there is no work hardening, warping, or issues with thermal stress. Since there is no tooling involved, waterjet cutting useful for small volumes or one-time runs, and with the precision of the water stream, we can make narrow kerf cuts, which enables tight nesting to achieve high material yield. Using the waterjet cutter, we can blast through material measuring up to 4.0" thick while upholding tolerances as close as ±0.003". Edges are smooth, and there is often no need for additional finishing.

With our 2-axis abrasive waterjet cutting capabilities, we cut a range of metals, plastics, and other non-metals. We have a substantial amount of experience producing parts from aluminum and stainless steel as well as other metals, such as hardened steel, high-nickel alloys, and more. Examples of other materials we process include ceramics, fiberglass, graphite, polymers, and elastomers. With a 5.0' long x 12.0' wide bed size, we can create small to large sized parts quickly, accurately, and consistently.

As a trusted supplier of waterjet cutting services for precision metal parts, we pay detailed attention to quality to ensure parts comply exactly with specifications. We offer responsive and reliable customer services as well as fast turnaround and timely delivery. To learn more about our waterjet cutting services or to request a quote, contact us directly.

Significant Benefits

Maximizes material yield
The precision with which the water stream cuts creates minimal kerf width allowing for tight tolerance and nesting capabilities. This in turn maximizes the yield of parts created per sheet of material.

Quality Assurance
Since waterjet cutting is not a heat process there is no warping of materials cut.

Waterjet cutting can cut through nearly any material and at thicknesses of up to 5 inches.
